Some general comments and discussions: Teachers are the role models of society. Students are observing teachers all the time since students move into society. They are recognised and respected the most in society. When we wear a sari and go out into the public spaces, or public transport, we are treated with respect. Bus conductors call us Madam. Otherwise in a salwar we are called ‘Papa’ (Tamil for child). There is a sense of professionalism that comes with teaching. Some teachers are lagging behind. That is not very good. Course is interesting. Subject knowledge is the same as 12th but pedagogy is different. It’s very interesting. Internship: typically 48 days; 10 days = observation | 38 days = teaching We exchange notes and share and discuss but eventually we write our own work or projects. Have there been cases when you wanted to teach differently? In maths: addition, instead of using + sign, I would use a clock, chocolates, tell stories etc. How has the computer been used/fitted to suit the classroom? - We apply what we have learnt to the level of the students. We use observation days to determine the level of students. Then we make lesson plans accordingly. Use computers for TLMs. Can you learn to teach different topics? - It helps to solve problems in real life also Where do you use ICT? - In classrooms, slideshow for classes, videos, seminars. Show audio video for school children. Regarding Governing Council meeting: We were a little nervous initially in the secretary office. Students were asked for opinions. How is the DIET program? Gave suggestion for Sports Day, asked for a lunch hall, a shed. PT teacher suggested the girl’s name to be included in the GC body. Anything else in last was asked, Student told to refer this college if anybody ask. It is very good college Need teachers for institue, Before it was strict not now should be strict Government school in Bangalore should improve, Teachers scold students there Teachers have other work, teachers should do only teaching and for administrative work separate staff should be there. Even in private schoolOne student felt her biggest learning was trust. Trust yourself and others, students. Good or bad she will trust students with work as themselves had been trusted by their TEs. She belives that if students are given oportunity, they will prove themselves.I learnt patience after joining this institution. The maths teachers made us to measure the table using scale to explain rectangle. whenever we teach we should learn patience and instead of narrating “ opposite sides are equal in rectangle” if measure the sides it will give a practical knowledge. SHe also showed how to find the area of triangle and how the formula has been generated. She asked each student to write on the board and made each student understand then and there itself.
